Stress, Burnout, and Fertility: The Plot Twist You Didn't See Coming

Let’s talk about something that affects a lot of people trying to conceive but doesn’t get enough spotlight, stress and burnout. If you've been scratching your head over unexplained infertility, stress could be playing a much bigger role than you realise. But don’t worry—we’re diving into the science, the solutions, and a few giggles along the way to help you navigate this!

The Stress-Fertility Connection: Why Your Body Hits Pause

When you’re stressed, your body releases cortisol—a “fight-or-flight” hormone that’s helpful in short bursts but a total party crasher if it sticks around. High cortisol levels can throw off your reproductive hormones like GnRH (the one responsible for ovulation), disrupting your cycle and making conception feel like mission impossible.

Eggs on Vacation

In times of chronic stress, your body interprets the situation as a red flag for survival, not reproduction. It’s like your body saying, “We can’t make a baby right now; we’re busy fighting lions!” (Even if the “lion” is just your inbox.) Ovulation may slow down—or stop altogether—until the coast feels clear.

Stress Messes with Sperm Too Stress doesn’t play favorites

In men, it can reduce sperm count and motility. Translation: it’s not just a female fertility issue.
