What is cupping?

Cupping Therapy is a deeply therapeutic treatment that uses gentle suction cups to release tight fascia, improve circulation, and draw out stagnation in the muscles and tissues.
This ancient practice, rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, encourages detoxification, supports the lymphatic system, and helps the body heal naturally from within.

During your session, silicone or glass cups are applied to specific areas of tension, commonly the back, shoulders, neck, or thighs, helping to lift the tissue, increase blood flow, and free trapped energy (“Qi”).
It’s ideal for clients experiencing chronic muscle tightness, postural stress, fatigue, or emotional tension held in the body.

You’ll then lie comfortably on the treatment table while Fiona applies warm oil and begins a combination of static and gliding cupping techniques.

  • Static cupping: cups remain in place for several minutes to release deep muscle knots or stagnation.

  • Gliding cupping: cups are gently moved along the muscle lines to improve lymph and blood flow, leaving a sensation of lightness and openness afterward.integrated breathing guidance supports the nervous system, allowing you to release tension both physically and emotionally.

Clients often describe the sensation as a deep, pulling pressure that quickly transforms into relief.

What You’ll Feel

  • A mild pulling or suction sensation during treatment, this is normal and therapeutic.

  • Some areas may feel more intense if there’s stagnation or deep muscle tightness.

  • After treatment, you may feel light, clear-headed, or deeply relaxed.

  • Temporary red or purple marks may appear on the skin where cups were applied,  these are not bruises but signs of stagnation being released and will fade within 3–7 days.

Aftercare & What to Expect

  1. Hydrate well — drink extra water over the next 24–48 hours.

  2. Rest and keep warm — avoid cold drafts, swimming, or heavy exercise for 24 hours.

  3. Avoid alcohol or caffeine for the rest of the day to support detoxification.

  4. Light stretching or walking can help encourage circulation.

  5. Moisturise gently — apply natural oils like arnica or coconut oil to soothe the skin if needed.

  6. Allow emotional release — it’s common to feel lighter or even emotional after cupping as tension patterns shift.

If you experience mild fatigue or tenderness, it’s part of the natural healing response — a sign your body is rebalancing.
